| Description: | Sorrowful Jones (Bob Hope) is a bookie in New York. A guy places a bet with him and leaves his little girl Martha Jane as a marker. When the father is murdered, Jones is forced to take care of the child with the help of night club singer Gladys O'Neill (Lucille Ball). A hustler named Big Steve gives a race horse to Martha Jane so he isn't listed as the owner when he fixes a race. When he finds out that Martha Jane is the daughter of a man he murdered, he wants to get rid of the girl. But by this time, Sorrowful has fallen in love with the little girl. He manages to stop Big Steve from getting his hands on her. Sorrowful and Gladys get married and adopt Martha Jane. |
