Reviews for The Long Goodbye
Review - Long Goodbye, The
A typical 70's anti-establishment plot with anti-heroes and a chaotic plot that doesn't stand up to any amount of thinking.

| Description: | Elliot Gould plays Philip Marlowe in a 70's version of Raymond Chandler's novel. A friend, Terry Lennox (Jim Bouton) shows up at Marlowe's apartment and asks for a ride to Mexico. When Marlowe returns, he finds out that Terry's wife has been murdered. The police pick up Marlowe as an accomplice. When reports of Lennox's suicide arrive, Marlowe is released. He's hired by Mrs. Wade to find her husband. Things get ridiculously complicated from there, with a lunatic asylum, a cheap gangster, and a mess of a plot. In the end, Marlowe figures out that Lennox is alive in Mexico and that he killed his wife, stole money from the gangster, and was having an affair with Mrs. Wade. Marlowe tracks Lennox down in Mexico and shoot him. |
