Reviews for The Andy Griffith Show

Review - Andy Griffith Show, The

I enjoyed it throughout. I've never cared for Don Knotts, but I grew to appreciate his character, Barney Fife. Ron Howard was an amazing actor, even when he was very young. I could have done without Aunt Bee, and Goober was hit or miss. The show was better when it centered on the main characters and not as good when the Darlings, Ernest T. Bass, or the good time girls made an appearance. Helen Crump was to shrill for my taste. I much preferred Elinor Donahue, who played Andy's girlfriend in the first season, but she left because she didn't feel like there was any on-screen chemistry between her and Andy.
