Description:Grace Kelly plays Princess Alexandra on whom the fortunes of her family rest. If she marries the crown prince (Alec Guinness), who is visiting for a week, all will be well. But the prince shows little interest. In an attempt to get him jealous, Alexandra's mother has her ask her kid brothers' tutor to the ball. The tutor (Louis Jourdan) gets the wrong idea and falls in love. Alexandra returns his love—or think she does. But after a fateful evening, the tutor realizes he's no match for royalty. The prince consoles Alexandra by telling her she must be like a swan—aloof and beautiful and never leaving the water.

Review - Swan, The

Lavishly filmed, and Kelly, of course, was stunning. But the movie moved slowly and it was hard to root for any of the characters. The ending, with the princess not marrying anyone, was disappointing, but had to be, I suppose.
