| Description: | Philip Sutherland (Clark Gable) is an American reporter in Russia during WWII. He falls in love and marries ballerina Marya (Gene Tierney). Philip is expelled back to the U.S. He teams up with a British man whose wife is also stuck in Russia, and a Cornish boat-builder. The three men sail to the Gulf of Finland to meet their wives off a swimming beach. At the last minute, Marya is forced to perform in a ballet. Philip swims ashore, impersonates a doctor, and manages to get Marya otu of the theater. They're chased by soldiers but get away. |
