A bit over-the-top to be good, although O'Hara was enjoyable for the most part.

| Description: | Mary Yellan (Maureen O'Hara) travels to Jamaica Inn to live with her aunt. On the way, she meets local squire, Sir Humphrey Pengallan (Charles Laughton), the local magistrate. When she arrives at the inn, she discovers a band of wreckers who deliberately lure ships to wreck, kill the sailors, and steal the cargo. She saves the life of Jem, whom the wreckers think has betrayed them. He turns out to be an agent sent to arrest the wreckers—and Pengallan turns out to be the leader of the gang. Pengallan runs away, taking Mary as prisoner, but Jem follows and saves her. |
