Description:Troy (Colin Hanks) quits law school to become the manager for aging magician Buck Howard (John Malkovich). Buck used to be great, but now just performs in half-filled auditoriums in small cities. He comes up with a new trick to restart his career and hired Valerie (Emily Blunt) to arrange media coverage. The trick is a hit, and Buck is suddenly famous again. He's on all the TV shows and even gets an offer to perform in Vegas. But soon the enthusiasm dies down and Buck is small-time again. Troy quits and gets a job as a writer in Hollywood. But he goes to see Buck one last time, trying to figure out if he uses gimmicks or is for real. He can't find a gimmick and decides that that's OK. Tom Hanks had a small role as Troy's father (which he is in real life).

Review - Great Buck Howard, The

The big problem I had with this movie right from the start is that I don't like John Malkovich. I haven't seen a lot of his movies, but I've disliked him intensely in all of them, this one included. Other than that, this movie was Ok, if a bit dull and pointless.
