| Description: | Ruth (Joan Caulfield) is about to marry the steady but dull Albert when Lt. William Seacroft (William Holden) shows up and proclaims his love. The family is confused, but finally figures out that Ruth's younger sister Miriam has been writing to soldiers in her sisters name. Ruth feels sorry for Seacroft and so goes out with him without telling him what happened, to Albert's chagrin. When Seacroft proposes, Ruth turns him down and Miriam confesses what she's done. Seacroft leaves, but he comes back to the house because he forgot something and Ruth grabs the opportunity to leave with him (after a quick marriage by Ruth's father, a judge). |
