Description:Farce about a Doctor Ford (Dennis O'Keefe) who is subpoenaed to appear in court on a case about a garter stolen from a jewelry shop. Quite innocently, before he was married, Ford gave the garter to his girlfriend, Gertie (Marie McDonald). Gertie is about to be married to Ford's lawyer, Ted. Now Ford needs to bring the garter to court but has to get it back from Gertie. The movie never explains why Ford can't just tell his wife about the garter or why Gertie refuses to let Ford have it. But with the aid of two other couples, there's a great deal of chaos and confusion and misunderstanding and the garter travels around among the group and couple accuse and refuse to listen to each other until finally, all of a sudden, the garter shows up, Ford's wife doesn't care (so long as she knows her husband isn't chasing Gertie anymore), the court case is cancelled, and everyone goes home happy.

Energetic but nonsensical slapstick. Another one of those rom coms that wouldn't exist if people simply listened to and trusted each other instead of jumping to the worse possible conclusions.
