Description:Based on the book Love and War in the Apennines by Eric Newby.

Eric Newby (Callum Blue) is a British soldier who is captured by the Italians in Italy during WWII. When the Italians drop out of the war, Eric meets Wanda (Barbora Bobulava), a local girl who teaches him English. When the Germans move in, she helps him escape into the countryside where is stays with a family of farmers. The Germans finally track him down and he spends two years in a POW camp until the war ends. He returns to Italy to find and marry Wanda.

Review - In Love and War

It's a good story, especially since it's true, but it isn't tremendously dramatic or exciting. I imagine Hallmark probably did it a lot more realistically than Hollywood would have.
