It tells the story of how singer/dancer Myrtle McKinley got into show business, met her husband, comedian Frank Burt, and became successful stars for many years while raising Mikie (the author) and her older sister, Iris.

Review - Mother Wore Tights

I thought the book was a very whitewashed picture of life in Vaudeville, and the movie was even more so. There wasn't really a plot, or drama, or ... much of anything except some views of everyday life spaced between random songs—many of them repeated.
