| Description: | Gerald (Clark Gable) and Anya (Rosalind Russell) meet in Bombay where they both intend to steal a famous piece of jewelry. They double-cross each other, but then join forces on the run from the police. They hop a ship to Hong Kong, but the captain (Peter Lorre) informs the police. Gerald and Anya hide out and, by this time, are in love. To escape, Gerald impersonates a British officer and ends up leading a battalion in a skirmish with the Japanese who are invading China. Gerald's heroism earns him a Victoria Cross— and also reveals his real identity. He has an opportunity to escape, but instead he and Anya give themselves up, return the stolen jewel, and plan to get married. When Gerald gets out of jail, he plans on enlisting. |
