Description:Fast-talking con-man/agent Rush Blake (Pat O'Brien) takes Buddy Clayton (Dick Powell) to New York to get him a gig singing on the radio. Buddy meets Peggy (Ginger Rogers), another aspiring singing, and they fall in love. But as Buddy makes it big, radio bigwigs think it will ruin Buddy's popularity to be married, so Blake lies and connives and breaks them up. Buddy walks out on his contract and is soon out of work. Blake realizes he's lost a good thing, so the conspires again—this time to get Buddy and Peggy back together and get Buddy's contract renewed.

Review - Twenty Million Sweethearts

Light, forgettable plot, but enthusiastic—and it was fun hearing popular songs from the 1930s. The movie was basically a musical, with Powell and Rogers both getting songs along with some other acts.
