Description:The story of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and how he lost the desire to write poetry after his wife died in a fire. He remained depressed as his oldest son went to fight in the Civil War and came back wounded. But reading his wife's diary and talking with his son inspired him to write the poem "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day."

Review - I Heard the Bells

I found it little slow-moving and sappy, and it bothered me that they never did play the song the whole way through. It would have been interesting to hear it in context.
