| Description: | June (Susan Hayward) is a dance hall girl who meets Alex, a sailor on leave—with a strange story. Earlier in the night, he found himself wandering the street with a large amount of cash. He figured that me must have taken it from Edna, a woman who attempted to seduce him. June convinces Alex to take the money back, and when he does, he finds Edna dead. Realizing that Alex would be the prime suspect, June decides to try to find the murderer. As they stumble around town, the meet cabbie Gus, and he starts helping them in their search. They discover that Edna was blackmailing a lot of people—and soon several of those people are also wandering about NY looking for answers. In the end, it turns out that it was Gus himself who killed Edna because she was blackmailing his daughter. June and Alex end up together. |
