Review - Around the World in 80 Days
An extremely long, extremely slow-moving, extremely weird movie. If you took out the scenes of Passepartout looking at the passing scenery, the movie would be two hours shorter. There's hardly any dialogue. Shirley MacLaine, as the princess, had about eight lines to say and spent the rest of the movie as much of a spectator as I was, only closer. That is, right up until the end when she asks Fogg to marry her. There was no character development. There were huge gaps in the travels. The humor wasn't funny and the exciting bits weren't exciting. This somehow won best picture Oscar, which tells me everything I need to know about the Oscars.
