Description:Artist Geoffrey Carroll (Humphrey Bogart) meets Sally (Barbara Stanwyck) on vacation and falls in love with her. He's still married though. He buys poison from a chemist and poisons his wife's nightly glass of milk until she dies. He marries Sally, who has no idea what went on. All is well until Geoffrey meets Cecily Latham (Alexis Smith) and falls for her. Now he has to get rid of Sally. He begins poisoning her milk. While all this is going on, he is being blackmailed by the chemist who sold him the poison and who has figured everything out. On the climactic day, Geoffrey goes to London and kills the chemist, then goes home to administer the final dose to Sally. But she has figured out what's going on and resists. She manages to get a phone call to her old boyfriend who arrives with the police before Geoffrey can kill her.

Review - Two Mrs. Carrolls, The

I've never really understood the appeal of this sort of movie as entertainment. Isn't the world sad and sick enough without wallowing in it unnecessarily. In this movie, all of the characters seemed more like parodies than actual people.
