A propaganda film to encourage all-out resistance to the Nazis. All well and good, and perhaps moving in 1943. But now its over-dramatic and smaltzy. The constant speeches are tiring. The dopey villagers who start things before the time is right accomplish nothing but causing many of their neighbors to die like heroes. I think they all could have been better off if they followed Rush's advice. "The purpose of war isn't to die for your country. It's to make the other guy die for his."
