Description: | Three high-school boys spend a summer on Nantucket and wonder about girls. Benjie chickens out. Oscy pursues a girl his own age. but Hermie focuses his attention on Dorothy, a young married woman whose husband is off to war. They become friends, the 20-year old woman amused by his polite attention. But when he shows up shortly after she receives a telegram informing her that her husband has been killed, she turns to him in need of comfort and end up in bed. In the morning. she's gone and Hermie never sees or hears from or about her again. |
