Kinda corny and overly-dramatic, but exciting. It had my attention all the way through, something few movies do.

| Description: | Matt Brennan (Humphrey Bogart) was an ace bomber pilot during WWII. He was in love with Jo (Eleanor Parker), but when he returned to the states, the relationship ended. Several years later, after knocking around at odd jobs, Brennan is hired by Leland Willis (Raymond Massey), a plane designer, to do test flights. It turns out that Jo is Willis's secretary. Matt pushes the boundaries in an attempt to win Jo back. His designer, Carl, wants to build an escape pod into a jet for safety, but Matt doesn't wait for the pod to be complete and makes a record-breaking flight. Carl tries the pod himself and is killed. Before he crashes, but after he knows he's going to die, Carl sends a message to Matt telling him what to do to make the pod work. Against all advice, including Willis's, Matt tries the pod and makes it down safely—and marries Jo. |
