Description:Sam (Ray Bolger), a minor official in the U.S. State Department accidentally invites showgirl Ethel (Doris Day) to a fine arts conference in Paris. On the boat, they fall in love and get married—or think they do. But the "captain" is really a busboy. Philippe (Claude Dauphin), a French nightclub owner informs them of the fact. When the get to Paris, Sam's boss clamps down on Sam and Sam's fiancee (who happens to be the boss's daughter) shows up. Ethel is kicked out of the conference. Things look dire, but Philipe hired Ethel to perform in his nightclub and make Sam jealous and the ploy works.

Review - April in Paris

Doris Day was a little less annoying and a little more attractive than usual. Ray Bolger was an odd choice as a love interest, but the man could dance. The songs were forgettable. The plot was one of those stupid "fall in love after knowing each other for two days, break up because of stupid complications that could be resolved in seconds, then get together just in time for the happy ending" ones that get so old.
