Description:General Alex Schottland (Jack Hawkins) has been a British spy behind German lines since WWI. He remained in place, working his way though promotions, to the start of WWII. As general in charge of supplying troops, he gains Hitler's confidence while sending messages to the Allies on how to bomb German dumps. His contact is found out and tortured to death. His new contact turns out to be Lili (Gia Scala), a woman he's attracted to. They carry out their spy activities under the guise of lovers, which they in time become. Schottland's aide is suspicious and reports Alex to the Gestapo, but he manages to put off suspicion until the end of the war is near. He attempts to get Lili across the lines to safety, but Schottland's aide follows her and kills her. The aide then attempts to turn the general over the the Gestapo, but when that fails, he tries to kill him. Schottland kills him first, and then, with the Gestapo closing in on him, he gets Hitler to give him a pass to cross the lines to contact isolated German troops for a last ditch fight. Instead, Schottland surrenders to British troops and retires in England.

Review - Two-Headed Spy, The

Good, authentic-feeling, suspenseful movie. As Hawkins was 24 years older than Scala, the romance was a bit of a stretch, and it was sad the Lili died, but still, it was a good movie.
