Description:Daryll (William Hurt) is a nighttime janitor in NYC. A shady businessman is murdered in his building. When Daryll sees that reporter Tony (Sigourney Weaver), on whom he has a big crush, is covering the story, he pretends to know something about the murder. Tony puts up with him at first to get the story, but actually begins to fall for him. The police follow Daryll, which makes the murdered man's cronies think Daryll is the killer.

Meanwhile, Tony's boyfriend Joseph (Christopher Plummer) raises funds to get Jews out of oppression in Russia.

It turns out the Joseph killed the businessman because he took some money that Joseph paid him to give to the Russians. Because he thinks Daryll knows he did it, he has to try to kill Daryll. In the end, the police shoot Joseph, and Daryll gets Tony.

Review - Eyewitness

I read online that the writer was working on two separate movies and decided to combine them. And that's what it feels like—two separate plots. The attempt to join them at the end was too fast and not at all believable. The first part, with Tony allowing Daryll's attentions in pursuit of a story and then falling for him, all around the suspense of the murder, was interesting, but then it just got weird.

The end scene took place in a multi-story stable in NYC where horses were kept in the city. By 1981, when the movie was shot, there were very few left, and now they're all gone. It was a kinda cool look at the past.
