Weird and slow. I kept feeling like there was something there, but ultimately it just sorta fell flat.

| Description: | Mona Gray (Jessica Alba) loves two things—her dad and math. When her dad has a stroke and retreats into himself, Mona gives up everything that brings her joy except math, thinking, somehow that it might bring her dad back. Her mother, tired of Mona's moping, kicks her out of the house and gets her a job as a third-grade math teacher. Mona learns to enjoy teaching, especially Lisa, a young girl whose mother is dying of cancer. Mona attacks the attention of Ben (Chris Messina) a science teacher, but she keeps pushing him away. Finally she realizes that her dad isn't going to get better and her denying herself pleasure isn't helping. She gets together with Ben and adopts Lisa. |
