Reviews for The Mad Miss Manton
Review - Mad Miss Manton, The
Clever and (almost) over the top. Stanwyck played these roles as well as anyone. Fonda was nearly as dull as usual.

| Description: | When she sees a man she knows run out of an empty house, society dame Melsa Manton (Barbara Stanwyck) investigates and finds a dead body. By the time the police arrive, the body has disappeared. Reporter Peter Ames (Henry Fonda) writes an essay about rich society girls who don't know their proper place. Melsa and her friends visit the house of the man who ran from the murder, and find him dead also. The police get involved, Melsa and her friends keep sticking their noses in, and Peter falls for Melsa. In the end, the murderer killed his lover's husband and also a guy who saw him do it. But that isn't really the point. The point is Stanwyck and Fonda trading wisecracks and falling in love. |
