| Description: | Actress Sheila Page (Joan Leslie) shoots her husband Barney (Louis Hayward) on New Years Eve when he threatens to kill her. He'd been having an affair with Paula (Virginia Field) and blamed Sheila when it went bad. Sheila flees to tell her friend William, who has just escaped from an asylum. He'd been committed on the advice of Eloise (Natalie Schafer—Lovie from Gilligan's Island), a rich woman who had been "keeping" him but tired of him. Sheila says she wished she could live the past year over again, and suddenly she is. Sheila spends the next year trying to change things—to keep Barney away from Paula and Eloise away from William. Some things change, but basically everyone falls into the same old trap. On New Years Eve, Barney threatens to kill Sheila again, and this time she doesn't have a gun. But William, the only one who knows the year is a rerun—shows up and kills Barney so Sheila doesn't have to. The police take William, but they can't convict him because he's "insane." |
