| Description: | Eric Phillips (David Niven) is a world-famous concert pianist. His manager pushes him so hard that he's a wreck. The same manager handles his investments. Eric doesn't know the manager is skimming a lot of money off the top. One of the investments is an apartment building. The old owner, Mr. Willoughby (Victor Moore) visits Eric and tells him that his building needs a lot of work. Eric visits and meets model Polly (Jane Wyman) and falls for her immediately. Another tenant of the building, Botts (Broderick Crawford) is a jerk who insists that nobody make any noise all day long while he's trying to sleep. Eric and Polly come up with an idea for Eric to practice his piano in Polly's apartment to drive Botts away. The plan works, and in the meantime, Eric and Polly fall in love. But Polly's boyfriend Bruce gets upset and plans on punching Eric. Willoughby, to save Eric, tells him that Polly was only being nice to Eric so he'd buy an insurance policy from Bruce. This causes a riff between Eric and Polly, but Willoughby manages to lock them both in Polly's apartment long enough to make up. They get married, and, with his hands now insured, Eric punches Bruce and his manager before leaving on his honeymoon. |
