Description:Shock TV reporter Stephen Rojack (Stuart Whitman) is married to wealthy heiress Deborah (Eleanor Parker). She's a drunk, an adulteress, and a shrew. Stephen goes to her apartment to ask for a divorce and she goes nuts. They quarrel and she falls off the balcony—he could have stopped her from falling but didn't. Deborah lands on the car of a mobster (Ganucci) who Stephen has been accusing on his show. In the car is Ganucci's nephew and his girl, Cherry (Janet Leigh) who just happens to be an old flame of Stephen's with a grudge against him for leaving her to marry Deborah. The cops think Stephen kills Deborah but can't prove it. Meanwhile, Stephen spends the night with Cherry and begins to plan a future with her (mind, this all takes place on the same night that Deborah died). Ganucci wants Stephen dead for what he's said on his show, so his nephew and his thugs threaten Cherry with mutilation if she doesn't give them Stephen. When he shows up at her place, they kill him.

Review - An American Dream

One of the worst movies I've ever bothered to watch all the way through. I almost quit on it after seeing Parker's ridiculous overacting and the unbelievably stupid dialogue. But I thought it might get better after Leigh got involved. It didn't. Nasty and stupid plot, terrible dialogue, and actors who were supposed to be emoting but all just came across as idiotic druggies.
