Silly and dull for most of the way, but the actual Channel swim was suspenseful and interesting.

| Description: | Promoter Windy Weebe (Jack Carson) meets Arkansas farm girl Katie Higgins (Esther Williams), who happens to be a good swimmer. Windy gets the idea to have Katie swim the English Channel to promote his "health" drink (which is mostly alcohol). When she trains in Europe, Katie meets Andre (Fernando Lamas), and they fall in love. On the swim, Katie tires and is about to collapse. Andre jumps in and swims next to her for the final hour to encourage her to finish. Katie's family is along to add to the musical numbers and not much else. |
