Description:Jean Newton (Ginger Rogers) happens to pass David Grant (Ronald Colman) on the street. He spontaneously wishes her good luck, and when she immediately has some, she decides to buy a sweepstakes ticket in partnership with him. He agrees, if, in return, he can spend his half of the winnings taking her on a trip. His purpose is to convince her that the life she's about to embark on with fiance Freddie Harper (Jack Carson) is a waste. Jean asks Freddie, who agrees but doesn't intend to keep the agreement. Jean and David end up winning $6,000, and David uses his half to buy Jean a car and take her to Niagara Falls. He keeps everything proper, although he has fallen in love with her. Jean soon realizes she's in love with David too. Freddie shows up and throws his weight around, but by that time, David has disappeared in the car. He's arrested and put on trial, where he and Jean admit their love for each other.

Review - Lucky Partners

It's really hard to know what to do with this movie. The characters were likeable, but the plot was about as stupid and convoluted as any I've ever seen. The whole deal to buy a ticket and use the money to take an innocent trip around the country with another man's fiancee was weird. And the courtroom scene at the end was too ridiculous to take remotely serious. But the middle part, when Jean and David were on the trip and falling in love was good.
