Description:Dixie Daisy (Barbara Stanwyck) is the star dancer at a burlesque theater. Biff (Michael O'Shea), a comedian who performs with her, is in love with her, but she's not interested. There's an attempt on Dixie's life, followed shortly by two murders. Most of the movie involves setting up various characters as possible suspects. Eventually, Biff gets an idea who it might be, and Daisy agrees to be the lure. The murderer grabs her, Biff intervenes and saves, and the case is solved. It turns out to have been a caretaker who was a performer in the theater when it was an opera house and who hates burlesque and all associated with it. Biff and Daisy get married.

Review - Lady of Burlesque

Barbara Stanwyck is always good. Otherwise the movie is just a typical who-done-it, with false leads and a lot of characters. The story was taken from a novel (supposedly) written by famous stripper Gypsy Rose Lee.
