Description:Frank "Ike" Farrel (Joe E. Brown), star pitcher for the Cubs, can't go three minutes without making an excuse or telling a lie. He falls for Dolly (Olivia de Havilland), sister-in-law of the team owner, and they get engaged. Meanwhile, gamblers corner Ike and tell him he'd better lose his next game. Dolly overhears Ike tell an lie about getting married and takes off. Ike is so upset that he loses the game. The gamblers and the team owner think Ike threw the game, but Dolly's sister knows better. She convinces Dolly to come back. But the gamblers kidnap Ike before the final game. He escapes and arrives at the very end, just in time to win the game. He and Dolly get married and Ike promises not to lie or alibi ever again.

Review - Alibi Ike

Corny, with just a few mildly amusing moments. The movie is most notable because it was Olivia de Havilland's first role. She was only 19 and lived another 85 years, making this movie the record holder for longest time after release that one of its stars was still alive.
