Description:Crime-drama writer Elliot Nash (Glenn Ford) is being blackmailed to keep naked photos of his singer/dancer wife Nell (Debbie Reynolds) out of the magazines. He can't come up with any more money, so he decides to kill the blackmailer and bury his body under the gazebo Nell is building in the yard. With complications, a man shows up and things go sorta as planned. But then the blackmailer is found murdered in his hotel room, meaning Elliott killed the wrong man. The police suspect Elliot for the hotel killing, but then they discover the real murderer, an associate of the blackmailer named Black—except that he's missing. Then two thugs kidnap Nell to force her to tell them where Black is. They find the body under the gazebo and dump it in Elliott's living room. He comes home and finds Nell tied up and a body in his house. Then the police arrive. The are about to arrest Elliott for killing Black but then Elliott sees a bullet hole high in the wall and realizes he never shot Black after all. It turns out Black died of a heart attack. Elliott digs the bullet out of the wall, but before the policed see it, Elliott's pigeon grabs it and flies off with it, so Elliot gets away with murder and Nell's pictures stay out of the magazines.

Reviews for The Gazebo

Review - Gazebo, The

It would have been much better of Glenn Ford hadn't played his character as a complete nervous mess at all times. It made Elliott totally unlikable so much that I didn't care if he got caught or not.
