Description:Just as Phil Corey (Glenn Miller) and his band get a gig in Sun Valley, pianist Ted Scott (John Payne) gets a telegram that the war refugee he agreed to sponsor has arrived. Karen (Sonja Henie), instead of being the child Ted expects, is a young woman who soon decides she wants to marry Ted. When the band heads to Sun Valley, Nifty (Milton Berle), band publicist, smuggles Karen along. Ted's girlfriend Vivian (Lynn Bari), who is the band's singer, is soon suspicious of Ted's feelings for Karen—especially since Karen does all she can to win Ted. When Karen schemes to get a night alone in a cabin on the slopes, Vivian leaves, leaving the band in the lurch. Instead of a singer, they put on their show with Karen doing skating numbers, and Ted and Karen get married.

Review - Sun Valley Serenade

The music was great—this is the movie that Chattanooga Choo-choo came from. But the plot was ridiculous. Just to point out one major issue. When Vivian takes off, the band somehow manages to gather 30 or so excellent skaters, all in elaborate costumes, to do the musical numbers with Karen, all on the fly in a night or two. And then they put on this grand show with no audience that I could see, making the whole Sun Valley scenario pointless.
