Description:Joan Gordon (Barbara Stanwyck) is a nightclub singer and the mistress of Eddie (Lyle Talbot). She wants to get away from him, so she moves to Montreal. When Eddie finds her there, Joan packs herself off to North Dakota to be the mail-order bride of a wheat farmer, Jim Gilson (George Brent). When takes her to his remote farm, and when he approaches her on the first night, she reacts in fright and slaps him. He gets hurt and sleeps in the other room. Joan respects him and sticks it out even though Jim is unfriendly. Jim is about to lose the ranch. A wealthy farmer offers to buy it off him and let him run it—if Joan will come live with him. Then Eddie shows up. He doesn't make trouble, just an offer, but again Joan determines to stick it out with Jim. Joan borrows money from Eddie and pays off the bank—promising to pay Eddie back when the wheat crop comes in. The wealthy farmer, still after Joan, attempts to burn the crop but Jim and Joan fight all night to save it and—finally—they kiss.

Interesting story. The movie didn't waste any time with character development. Just a series of crises to show how Joan determined to stick with the man she chose. Stanwyck was good, as usual.
