| Description: | Gambler Jerry Stewart (Clark Gable) has to get out of New York to avoid the cops. He ends up in sleepy Glendale where he meets librarian Connie (Carole Lombard). He tries to seduce her, but she challenges him to flip a coin—if he loses, they get married. He loses and takes her back to New York. He goes on with his gambling scams, but she catches on and threatens to leave him. He pretends to be OK with it, then has a change of mind. He tells her he's going to South America, but really makes a deal with the cops to serve a 90 day prison term. Connie finds about about it but says nothing, welcoming him back when he returns. It isn't stated, but it seemed like Jerry would go straight and they'd stay married. |
