| Description: | Gold miner Willet Gashade (Warren Oates) returns to camp to find one partner dead and another partner, his brother, on the run from the law after accidentally killing a man and child in town. The only one left in camp is the simple Coley (Will Hutchins). Soon a mysterious woman (Millie Perkins) arrives and hires Willet to take her to some city. They set off across the desert, killing horses as they go. Eventually the change their objective to chasing a man (Willet's brother?), and are joined by Billy Spear (Jack Nicholson), a hired gun who threatens Willett and Coley and eventually kills Coley. Soon all the horses are dead and they're stranded in the desert without water. They've caught up to the fugitive. Willett and Billy fight and Willett smashes Billy's gun hand. He takes off after the woman who is chasing the man. There's shooting and ... the movie ends. |
