| Description: | Homicide detective Kyle Bodine (Ed Harris) meets Rachel Munro (Madeleine Stowe), who is in an abusive marriage. They have an affair and decide to go off together. Rachel returns to her house to get luggage and is confronted by her husband. When he gets abusive, she shoots him. Kyle wants to call it in as justifiable homicide, but Rachel talks him into hiding the body. When she reports her husband missing, Kyle's incompetent partner Lamar (Benicio Del Toro) suddenly becomes astute and starts finding clues—all of which point to Kyle as the killer. Kyle is suspended and about to be arrested when he realizes that Kyle has been framing him. Turns out that Rachel really did intend to kill her husband and paid Lamar to work with her. But once she met Kyle, she fell in love with him and attempted to call it off with Lamar. She did shoot her husband, but Lamar made it look like it was done with Kyle weapon. Kyle confronts Lamar and demands to see his gun. More cops show up and, only knowing that Kyle is under suspicion, shoot and kill him. Lamar is about to get away with his role and begins bragging to Rachel, so she picks up Kyle's gun and shoots Lamar. |
