Review - Born to the West
Low budget movie that doesn't take much thinking. It's saved (a little bit) by John Wayne coming into his own as John Wayne—and by Marsha Hunt's smile.

| Description: | Dare Rudd (John Wayne) is a cocky drifter who thinks he knows how to play poker. He and a buddy come upon a running gunfight and join the wrong side—cattle rustlers. They're captured by the sheriff who turns out to be Tom Fillmore (Johnny Mack Brown). He offers Dare a job herding his cattle. Dare doesn't want anything to do with work—until he meets Judy (Marsha Hunt). He decides to stick around and proposes to her daily. Tom gives Dare charge of a cattle drive. On the way to market, he fights off rustlers, but when he gets the cattle delivered he gets involved with crooked gamblers and looses almost all of Tom's money. Tom comes to see what's keeping him and takes the money away from the crooked gamblers. Tom is shot, but Dare helps him get away, protects him during a gunfight, and promises not to gamble anymore. Tom offers Dare a partnership, and Judy agrees to marry Dare. Reissued as Hell Town. |
