Reviews for The Affairs of Martha
Review - Affairs of Martha, The
Rather madcap affair, with a lot of noise and confusion, but with great characters and the lovely Marsha Hunt.

| Description: | The wealthy residents of a highbrow town are upset when they find out that one of their maids is writing a book about the family she works for. But nobody expects Martha (Marsha Hunt) who works for the Sommerfield family. Her publisher is trying to make time with her, as is local handyman Danny. But Marsha seems uninterested. Then the Sommerfield's son, Jeff (Richard Carlson), returns from overseas with a fiancee. Nobody in the family likes the woman, but there's obviously something else going on. It turns out that Jeff, drunk on the night before his departure, married Martha! He expected her to get an annulment, but instead she went to night school to better herself and her book is actually a story about how great the Sommerfield's are. When Martha finds out Jeff is engaged, she decides that's she free to go about with her publisher. But Jeff realizes he really does love her, and he dumps his obnoxious fiancee and gets together with Martha, his wife. |
