Description:Mark MacLene (Peter Lawford) has inherited a vast estate but spends way more than he should. The executor hires lawyer Lucy Duncan (Janet Leigh) to oversee Mark's money. She puts him on a tight budget, and when that doesn't curb his excess, she pawns all his belongings. In retaliation, Mark moves into her apartment (which soon breaks up Lucy and her fiance). In time, Mark and Lucy fall in love, but Lucy insists he gets a real job. Mark fakes a job as a chemist and does all he can to bore Lucy with details of his work to show her that a working husband is boring. Lucy kicks him out, but then realizes she loves him and goes looking for him—finding him at the Navy office where he's just been assigned a post in Washington. Mark and Lucy end up together.

Review - Just This Once

Janet Leigh was lovely. Lawford was well cast for the role, but it was a thankless role—a spoiled rich brat. The first half was the usual story of two mismatched people stuck together and falling in love. But then the movie stopped making any sense at all. Mark doing all he can to bore Lucy with job details so she's be OK with a rich husband who does no work. Lucy suddenly not minding that Mark does nothing, in spite of her character which was spelled out in detail. Then Mark suddenly joining the Navy. It just didn't make sense and wasn't funny.
