Description:Eddie Barnes (Eddie Albert) wants to marry Mary Matthews (Joan Leslie), but there are complications. Their fathers are rivals in the mattress business and neither want their children married. Eddie's grandmother (Jane Darwell) talks Eddie into selling his legacy for one-third its value, buying a box spring company, and eloping. Mary agrees and they get married. But the legacy is then sold to gangsters who find out they can't get the money until Eddie's mother dies. Mistaking Grandma for Eddie's mom, they kidnap her, but she soon gets the upper hand and threatens to see they get charged for her kidnapping and murder if they don't surrender the legacy, which they do.

Review - Thieves Fall Out

Some amusing bits. Several overlapping plot lines, some of which never get resolved. Joan Leslie was lovely (only 16 at the time of filming), but had no real role except to stand around looking like Joan Leslie. Jane Darwell stole the show as Grandma, although her performance was over-the-top.
