Description:Trappers Bill Tyler (Charlton Heston) and Henry Frapp (Brian Keith) look for beaver in Wyoming. They join the Crows in a raid on a Black Feet camp. Bill knocks out an Indian and discovers its a woman, Running Moon (Victoria Racimo). He takes her back to his camp. When she recovers, she tells him that she has been the slave of Heavy Eagle, but now is Bill's woman. The two men and the woman continue trapping. Heavy Eagle chases them, kills Henry (or so we're led to think) and recaptures Running Moon. Now it's Bills turn to hunt Heavy Eagle. Along the way he finds Henry alive (only to be killed for real this time a bit later in another fight). Bill rides into Heavy Eagle's camp and fights him. He's about to be killed when Running Moon shoots Heavy Eagle. Bill and Running Moon ride off together.

Reviews for The Mountain Men

Review - Mountain Men, The

I never really bought the 57-year-old Heston as a mountain man, much less the 59-year-old Keith. Keith's major role in this movie seems to have been to swear a lot. A lot of people, especially Indians, were shot and stabbed. A lot of rivers were forded. One scraggly beaver puppet made an appearance. I never really cared about any of the characters or figured out why their story was worth telling.
