Review - Ladies of the Chorus
Short, mild, forgettable, but interesting to see Marilyn in her first starring role before she was MARILYN MONROE.

| Description: | Mae Martin (Adele Jergens) and her daughter Peggy (Marilyn Monroe) perform together as burlesque chorus girls. Years before, Mae fell in love with a society guy and married him, but when his family found out what she was, he was forced to divorce her—but not before she got pregnant with Peggy. Now Peggy is in love with society dude Randy Carroll (Rand Brooks), and Mae sees history repeating itself. She makes Randy promise to tell his mother that Peggy is in burlesque, but he doesn't. At the engagement party, one of the band members recognizes Peggy and blurts out the truth. Mae and Peggy figure the cat is out of the bag and get ready to leave, but Randy's mother (Nana Bryant) steps in. She performs a song and dance in front of all her friends and tells them she was once a chorus girl. It isn't true, but it breaks the ice, and leaves Randy and Peggy free to get married. At the same time, Mae decides to marry an old burlesque friend. |
