| Description: | Some guy named Carmady, who may or may not work for the government, wants some guy named Melchior, who may or may not be the head of the mob, killed so some guy named Kincaid can be put in his place. I never could figure any of this out for sure. To accomplish this, they hired a washed up security guard named Chandler (Warren Oates) to follow? protect? Melchior's girlfriend Katherine (Leslie Caron) who supposedly has information that the government wants? It was obvious that Chandler was just a patsy, but I have no idea why he was hired at all. Anyway, he begins by tailing Katherine secretly, then obviously, then somehow he becomes the only person she trusts. She's grabbed by the bad guys and hurt? raped? but then shows up again in a bar with Melchior. Chandler grabs her and they run, getting their car stuck next to the ocean. Melchoir follows but is shot by Kincaid and Carmady. Chandler shoots back but is hit himself. Kincaid and Carmady come by to smirk, so Katherine takes Chandler's gun and kills Kincaid. Carmady smiles and walks away. At the end of the movie, Chandler is still alive but we have to guess whether he ended up that want or not. |
