Description:Policeman Joe Conroy (Sterling Hayden) is convinced that baker Al Willis (Gene Barry) killed three cops, but he can't prove it. When he's photographed harassing Willis, he gets fired. He hires a private detective, and between them they harry Willis until he decides to skip town. Willis goes to a city on the Mexican border where he has a girlfriend, Marianna (Gloria Grahame) who doesn't know he's really a hoodlum ... or a baker with a wife. Conroy follows Willis and gets beaten up in an alley by some random guys who only showed up in the movie long enough to create a reason for Conroy to meet Marianna. She finds him injured and takes care of him and, apparently, falling for him. Willis finds out Conroy is in town and plots to kill him. Conroy escapes with Marianna, then turns the tables on Willis and captures him. He takes him back "north" wherever home is, but Willis escapes on the way. He goes to the church where he has his gun hidden. Conroy is arrested for kidnapping Willis but convinces the cops he's the good guy. They follow Willis to the church, but Marianna gets there first and gets shot. The cops then shoot Willis.

Review - Naked Alibli

Dumb movie. Willis was a baker with a good reputation, a thriving business, and a wife and child—and also a gangland hoodlum with henchmen in some random city on the Mexican border. One minutes he's a kind husband and likeable boss. The next he's paranoid and can't figure out why the cops are following him. And then he's a sadistic hood. And oh, he also happened to have a girlfriend who knew nothing about his criminal past, his bakery, or his wife. And then there's Marianna, who's begging Willis to marry her one minute and trying to seduce Conroy the next. And Conroy, who gets kicked off the force for harassing Willis and then is chased by cops for kidnapping him, but one phone call convinces all the cops that he's a good guy and is given a gun—even though he's no longer a cop. And the convincing evidence he had? He figured out that Willis had hidden the murder weapon in a church because Willis went there a lot and was thought to be religious. Why did he go there? To visit his hidden gun? Just dumb. Gloria Grahame is attractive, but even her role in this one made no sense. And just for the record, nobody was naked and there was nothing in the movie about an alibi.
