Review - He Couldn't Say No
Absolute nonsense, but it didn't last long enough to get really annoying.

| Description: | Lambert (Frank McHugh) has a boring job in an office. He has a fixation on Iris (Diana Lewis), a senator's daughter whose photo he saw in the paper. He's dating coworker Violet (Jane Wyman). When Lambert gets a raise, Violet's mother insists the two get married. They go to an auction to buy furniture. When he sees a scantily clad statue of Iris, he buys it for $100. Violet and her mother are angry and insist he sells it. The senator offers him $2,000 so he can destroy it (because it's too risque). Lambert refuses to sell, which endears Iris to him. When thugs attempt to grab the statue to smear the senator, Lambert outsmarts them and sells it to a museum for $5,000. When his boss hears how much Lambert made, he thinks he's clever and offers him a large raise. Violet and her mother start pushing marriage again, but Lambert rejects them and marries Iris. |
