Review - Miracle in the Rain

Jane Wyman was almost 40 when she made this movie, and looked it—too old to be playing the part she played. Van Johnson's character was very outgoing and positive, stopping just barely before being annoying. It didn't make sense that his character would be attracted to her old maid character, but it made for a nice love story. Then it got weird. The whole chatting with the statue of St. Andrew and the delusions of Arthur in the rain ... I'm not sure what the miracle was. The coin magically showed up in her hand, but Arthur is still dead and we don't know whether Ruth survives the night, so I'm not sure what good the coin was supposed to do.
