Review - Girl from Jones Beach, The
Stupid plot that was ridiculously contrived, but Reagan and Mayo looked like they were having fun.

| Description: | For a client, ad man Chuck (Eddie Bracken) needs to find the identity of The Randolph Girl, a popular pinup drawn by artist Bob Randolph (Ronald Reagan). The problem is that Bob doesn't use one girl—his pictures are drawn from 12 different girls. And then Chuck sees Ruth (Virginia Mayo) sunbathing on Jones Beach and realizes she looks just like The Randolph Girl. He finds out Ruth is a schoolteacher and tells Bob. Bob enrolls in Ruth's night ESL class and assumes a phony accent. They soon begin dating but eventually, Ruth finds out what Bob is up to. At first, she protests that she wants to be loved for her mind, not her looks. But before they can work things out, a photo of Ruth as The Randolph Girl in a swimsuit. makes the papers and she's fired. She takes the case to court and Bob shows up to prove that Ruth's swimsuit is no less modest than any other and that teachers deserve to live their own lives too. By this time, Ruth no longer wants to be wanted only for her mind. She wins the case by posing in her swimsuit, and she and Bob end up together. |
