Description:Four guests show up at a hotel in San Francisco carrying identical plaid bags. One is Howard Bannister (Ryan O'Neal), a professor of music. His bag is filled with rocks as part of his research to prove that rocks were once used as instruments (or something like that). He's in town with his pushy fiancee (Madeline Kahn) to get a grant for his research. Another bag has the jewels of a wealthy guest. Another has secret government papers that a man is trying to expose. And the fourth contains the clothes of Judy Maxwell, an eccentric young woman who decides to insinuate herself into Howard's life—impersonating his fiancee and showing up in his bathtub. Chaos abounds as the bags get stolen, mixed up, and restolen. It all ends up in a chase scene that parodies old movie comedies and in a courtroom where nothing gets sorted out. Howard and Judy end up together.

Review - What's Up, Doc?

Clever in places, but silly throughout. I've never been a big fan of Steisand, and I'm not starting now. She's certainly not as cute as she thinks she is, or as her character was supposed to be. I wish I had realized going in about all the gags and parodies of old movies going on—that would have made it more enjoyable.
